I'm talking property tax. You have to pay a tax on real property (land) every year. If you don't pay it you will lose the land. That's rent.

recurring tax makes it feel less like ownership

We can say the government owns all of the land in its territory. By paying property tax we are paying our rent. Rent gives us the ability to use the land and transfer it to others (who are then the renters). When on their land, we must follow their rules. Is any of this untrue?

If you take away offensive foreign wars, most anarchocapitalists agree that property owners can set their own rules, and have the ability to detain rule violators, and that if people don't like those rules they don't have to come onto the property/can leave the property.

How doesn't this apply to the US, and the land it "owns?" Besides the above exceptions does it do anything on its land that would violate your definition of property rights and valid contracts?

The point is, failing to pay property tax ends in confiscation of your land.

I agree that libertarians need to conquer territory from nation-states so we are no longer subject to their taxes.

But everything you buy does not have a recurring sales tax.
