To add to my previous response, unlike normal businesses that can be challenged by competitors, the way a free market/capitalist economy should work, ISPs have local monopolies (and the money) to prevent competition (and innovation) making them the gatekeepers of information.

No corp, org, nor gov't entity should be able to wield that much power and influence over the people. From a simple job-related point of view, a tiered system could potentially put me out of work as a software dev as my bill could easily go from $100/mo to $500/mo just to work.

What's an ISP?
-
Internet Service Provider(like Comcast or Verizon). Net Neutrality means your internet company isn't allowed to charge you more $$$ to access certain websites. Like, if you want to use facebook, they could charge you $5 more per month.

2. - competition to the point where other large corporations have difficulty trying to enter the market (let alone a new smaller company). In some cases, cities have given ISPs exclusive rights to the Cable/DSL lines in a Metro area.

4. - To add to all this, ISPs use their lobbying power to push rules into local, state, and federal gov't to actively prevent competition from forming. (
@comcast is one of the top 5 lobbyist orgs in Washing DC).Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

1. - I was simply making a point that such entities shouldn't have the capability to control the flow of information to the populace,
#NetNeutrality
aside.
Think of it this way, @comcast owns@nbc, what if they decided to block all websites that support@realDonaldTrump? -
2. - I don't like much of what
@realDonaldTrump has done, but it is still wrong to block the flow of information simply because someone may disagree with it.

It’s obscene that people think government regulation solves anything. End net neutrality and all regulations on commerce that make major corporations winners and consumers losers.
