Democracies are insidious because it shifts the blame of government failure and atrocities to the people because they didn't vote the "right" people into power. At least with monarchies, etc, the people rightfully blame those in power for their bad behavior.

Democracy is fundamentally dehumanizing. It reduces every member of society to a machine used to generate legitimacy and economic value for the rulers. You are made into a component of a collective and cease to be a unique individual with honor and dignity.

Why do so many people in this country think we are a democracy? We are a representative republic. The more we move away from individual rights to democracy (mob rule), the worse it gets.
