Political tribalism makes people violently averse to any term that feels bad regarding their own tribe, esp when framed as a criticism from the other tribe. One of the claims is that the Democrats have stayed roughly the same while the GOP has moved far more to their right.

Paul Ryan came to prominence through Tea Party, not as a limp wrist corporate shilling moderate. Republicans were moving together with the left, to the left, through the Bush years and after, Trump moved it back in 2016 as a response/repudiation of the party by the base.

I disagree with that assessment. The republican Party is there for Big Business but for form's sake it needs a voting Bloc which it ignores. Trump was brought in because there was no way Jeb! could beat Clinton.

I belonged to "a Republican party" which I learned only existed in my delusions, which has been destroyed.

Having moved from conservative, to fundamental constitutionalist, to radical anarchist, I have difficulty empathizing with anyone who moved from the left to anarchism, but I'd certainly be willing to try.

I knew we were gonna lose when Romney got the nod. He was a shill for the left under the guise of "OMG I'm so moderate." Underwhelming and an ineffective suck up.
