Spelling things out for people, especially information that they could easily attain if truly interested, is only setting yourself up to be dismissed. Giving them some tidbits and piquing interest--and sending them on their way--is a far more effective persuasion tool.

I have discovered by experience that you can mostly assemble an idea except for the last one or two steps, & give it to them in that form to complete on their own. Then it's a conclusion they arrived at themselves, which they will trust more than something spoonfed to them

Street Epistemology is a more exhaustive form of this where rather than doing 9/10ths of the work for them, you lead them by questioning through the process of putting it all together on their own. Assuming you have the time, energy & inclination to bother, it's very effective.
