It is easy to educate someone lacking information and eager for it. It is virtually impossible to persuade someone simply by giving them information. If they don't do the mental work, it won't change their mind. Further, if they do the mental work, they'll tend to believe it.

Spelling things out for people, especially information that they could easily attain if truly interested, is only setting yourself up to be dismissed. Giving them some tidbits and piquing interest--and sending them on their way--is a far more effective persuasion tool.

I have discovered by experience that you can mostly assemble an idea except for the last one or two steps, & give it to them in that form to complete on their own. Then it's a conclusion they arrived at themselves, which they will trust more than something spoonfed to them

Street Epistemology is a more exhaustive form of this where rather than doing 9/10ths of the work for them, you lead them by questioning through the process of putting it all together on their own. Assuming you have the time, energy & inclination to bother, it's very effective.

This is undeniably true. I’d like somebody to write a manual on how to deal with this with phenomenon in regards to friends

Strategy is everything. People whose beliefs are made from an emotional place often need to be pushed into that space to access new ideas. Relate——-> manipulate.

Providing information to those who lack it is "informing" them. Only when we get others to think things through clearly on their own have we "educated" them. Education is very rare.
