there are two 1) "who would build roads?" is a fair question that needs answering 2) "you're a hypocrite for using roads you were forced to pay for" is dementedhttps://twitter.com/CovfefePony/status/1291473186287046656 …

The fact that they consistently turn to the "what about the roads argument" cliche as some sort of argument clincher never stops being funny.

Wasn't the second point something they tried to get Rand with in her later life for using either medicare or taking out social security money?

You're not wrong, admonishing someone for using roads is a shitty debate tactic

The first question is alright i guess but if they stopped and thought about it for 5 seconds they could understand how those people who work on our roads don't dissolve into thin air without taxes. We would have to fund them ourselves and we'd actually get what we're paying for

Right now they steal wayyy more money then necessary and don't even use it properly. They let roadworkers lilly dick around all day with our money and they even take paid days off so that we don't lower their budget or lay people off. It's straight up socialism

The roads are constantly a point of complain anywhere it regularly snows in winter, yet they're held up as a pinnacle of government.

They recently did roadwork near my house and I have seen people drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid the shorty job the government did. The road has been super bumpy for almost a month now

I've never seen even the most explicit and clear answer to that question change someone's mind. It's "unanswerable" due to fundamental differences in people's wiring.

Many of the major roads in the NE were turnpikes. They were literally private toll roads all over the region. Just because they can't fathom it, doesn't mean it's not impossible.
