it was baffling tbh to read Berkman's ABCs of Anarchism and find him claiming that most crime is a function of poverty. fine, let's assume most of it is. what about the rest? he just ignores ithttps://twitter.com/Rienzmagi/status/1290834093220016128 …

So they completely miss the biological fact that some monkeys will still break things. Until we can rewire humanity to remove propensity for criminality and chaos some form of structured order is required for a relatively peaceful society.

Do you think the propensity to be criminal is innate, or do you think it's a product of our environment, ie the way we were raised?

Appalachia proves this false, we only have per capita 1/4 of the crime of equally poor urban areas.

Religiosity is a factor. This is ALWAYS ignored. A poor community with a strong moral fabric will avoid high rates of criminality.

Which is why a collective group of individuals will eventually devolve into chaos without an establishment of some form of foundational principles and structure even if we accept that lie of poverty leading to most crime. Or am I just too stupid to figure this out?

Poverty is caused by crime. Crime is caused by sin. The golden rule applies to rich and poor alike

wishful thinking is one reason Also maybe the model of mind–body dualism or the good soul in the corrupt body. Poverty is broadly conceived as a state of the body's need, crime the manifestation of corporeal desire. With the body sated, the good soul/mind will live in peace
