The key word in the amendment is "being" Sad how many people don't get the grammatical significance.

Another example: 'An independent press, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to organize and speak freely, shall not be infringed.' It doesn't graft perfectly, but the point is that the above statement does not guarantee an independent press.

the best argument. "It's my rights. I don't base my rights on the dictates of others." but on the well-regulated angle -- the militias of the colonies were specifically "all able-bodied men" between certain ages so it's kinda hard to argue there was any regulation.
