I voted for Johnson in ‘12 but not in ‘16.

If he didn't appear on Joe Rogan for the 2012 campaign I think that would definitely explain the bump in numbers.

In all sincerity I wouldve got 5 times the votes as nominee It is a testament to our philosophy and getting on Rogan Gary doesn't deserve the hate but I also dont give him much credit

Had he not committed the "What is Aleppo?" gaffe on 9 Sept. 2016, the trend shows Johnson would have reached 15% and been in at least one of the debates. He peaked that day and dropped steadily afterward.

Who knows how much, but I think Ron Paul’s campaign drove some, or a lot, of the support GJ got. I think Jo is going to take more blame than is deserved for a drop in votes when it might just be the result of following in GJ’s wake instead of RP’s.

You'd would think that would indicate to relevant parties at LP that they might want to lean more into the Ron Paulian type of messaging, but nah.

If I remember correctly, the Green Party proportionately grew by the same amount. Their growth therefore had nothing to do with their efforts and everything to do with voters being unhappy with the two primary options in those elections
