There definitely are. Aren’t there bad folks in many professions? I think teachers should be judged on their performance. That is, how they promote critical thinking and coach students in the area of content. Not how they invoke warm, fuzzy feelings.

I'm not thay cynical about this. Students not prisoners = A+, how does that equate?

I try to empower students with the notion that they can do anything with hard work and effort. Part of the journey is the struggle. I tell them to not think of themselves as victims. But yes, I must be the enemy because I’m a teacher. And heaven forbid I rushed and forgot a word!

Not really. I’m countering the argument that all teachers are bad. That’s demonstrably false. Believe me, I don’t agree with LOTS of things in education; namely putting feelings and emotions above seemingly all else.
