Could it be somehow related to the Nazi affinity for eugenics?

If you present things together often enough they become emotionally interchangeable/inseparable. It's the favorite trick of German press, where there's rarely a protest by "right-wingers," but always "right-wingers, Merkel-critics, Reichsbürger and (other) conspiracy theorists."

To the normie those now FEEL like the same thing so they ARE the same thing. Though they could probably still seperate them intellectually. Birth control=abortion works the same, only with a benign association instead of a sinister one. Doesn't have to have been deliberate.

To be fair, almost nobody supported abortion until like the 70s. Even early feminists were vehemently anti abortion. It was far too barbaric, beyond the pale. It was a long fought war of attrition. A slippery slope that's now slipping into infanticide.
