There was a mini-doc, I believe by VICE, that exposed how one of the leading police consultant/trainers instilled a “us vs. them” philosophy in a uncomfortably large percentage of police departments around the country. One of his biggest points was “do whatever you gotta do

Most people have a fairly good idea of what cops do. They want the job done, they don’t want to do it themselves, and are more than willing to pay someone else to do it. The danger thing is part of it, but far from the only reason people want cops.
