Just read this today. Sounds like media was even worse a century ago lol. Is that possible? Media was saying the 1918 Influenza Pandemic wasn't realpic.twitter.com/W64wz3tMBJ

I would take downplaying the covid19 situation rather than sensationalize and politicize the news as they do these days, so no, they are worse now imho

I think some conservatives are conflating their local media, who might've very well been more fair to (R)'s closer to home, to national. And maybe confusing hostility to Johnson and Carter with fairness.

The media backed Bush's War on Terror. Maybe that's what they're thinking of.

Did they? I was young during the Bush years, but I remember him being treated pretty similarly to Trump, in that everything he did was the worst thing ever regardless of what it was.

It was never fair, that's true, but it's worse than it's ever been none. Far worse. At least in my memory or from that of my parents.

Yes the media is was far more fair in those times... it’s kinda like a spectrum of unfair to extremely unfair... I think it’s kinda easy to understand..

Goldwater got it really bad in particular. Lambasted as a war monger even though he ran against LBJ, who was clearly no peacemaker. That’s the power of media though.
-
They left out a crucial part in his "extremism" quote in the 1964 Presidential race. The actual quote he stated was "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!". They took out "in the defense of liberty" and made him out to be a mad man, bent on war
