I think I may have heard this from
@StefanMolyneux, but I like the idea of police having to carry their own malpractice insurance, and having personal liability for their behavior, thus making it economically infeasible to be a bad cop. The US doesn't really have a nationalized police force, closest would be FBI, DEA, ATF, or Postal Inspectors. Almost all law enforcement people interact with are state employees, hired by either the state or the counties.
