Progressivism has its roots in early 20thC rise of the universities & the concept of the experts (i.e., seers) divining Truth from data that has been previously immeasurable I address this in TNR, they don't really get that they're akin 2 geniuses using math 2 force geocentrismhttps://twitter.com/TheDoctorRansom/status/1264686326437289986 …

I've noticed this "freedom-lovers are childish" narrative gaining traction of late. I think it will sell well to progressives because it conforms so nicely to their preferred self-image as the only "adults in the room."

Steven Pinker must be the apotheosis of this progressive view. And Taleb the Wellington giving Pinker, and his followers, their Waterloo.

Successful sociopaths learn very early in life the number one rule to maximize what you can extract from others is the APPEARANCE of being the most morally superior person in the room This is why they gravitate towards the image controlling leftist media who will “clean me up”pic.twitter.com/pU14zHU4IN

His comment on the paternalism of the cathedral is interesting. They already use children in order to justify why certain laws exist or should, like gun control or drug laws. The reality is they see no possible alternative to the world they want in their heads.

So they gotta think of people with alternative ideas as "childish" or "uninformed" or "naive" in order to dismiss them without having their own ideas challenged

I’m seeing more open discussion, from people who would very recently regard the subject as beyond the pale, around defunding public broadcasting and universities. I pray for more brazen antics.
