I understand what you mean. When my wife and I made the decision to leave California, one of the reasons we chose Vegas (besides the relatively libertarian bent to society here) is that *everybody* comes to Vegas. We see some California friends more here than we did back there.

I grew up, went to school (through college) and worked for years in NYC. I can't imagine what it must be like there now. I live 50 miles away, but it might as well be a million.

Just a thought: Your job and lifestyle are ideal for being a nomad for awhile. You can pick a city - any city - and live there for six months. If you don't like it, leave. If you like it, stay until you don't. You've designed a life that will surround you with friends everywhere.

Idaho is pretty great constitutional carry, castle laws, easy to travel to Seattle, Canada, Portland, California and not too bad of a flight to New York.
