I've lived in Tokyo for a year a couple of years back and being surrounded by countless anonymous people constantly was really wearing me out after the excitement + newness wore off. Then returning home to my quiet rural village was similarly jarring again (in a neutral sense).

Tokyo is a great city but not t has a claustrophobic vibe I couldn’t handle. I felt much more relaxed in Nagoya or Osaka.
