A world in which everything is taken as a political statement and nothing at face value makes it difficult to simply say: I feel for those illegal immigrants who were doing crappy jobs and are now being screwed something fierce by the current situation.

I think both sides agree about this! They just disagree on what should have been done about it.

You're skilled at saying difficult things, and I'm glad of it. The problem of creating kings is that the systems they impose create hardship *and* are more fragile than the web of arrangements made by free people.

I try not to think about all the hurt. A week ago I got a series of phone calls from business contacts; they were seeing their livelihoods fall apart. I couldn't sleep for a couple days. Despair and anger are the same emotions pointed in different directions.

Even harder to ask is, why don’t they overthrow the governments in their home countries if those are so corrupt, and thereby make their home countries better? A few guys with guns in a US star capitol building certainly put a some fear in a few politicians.

An under appreciated aspect of tolerance of illegal immigration is the horrible exploitation of the immigrants—not only low pay, but lessened safety precautions and help for those injured on the job. And that’s for the relatively fortunate who aren’t in indentured servitude.

Agreed and they wouldn't be illegal if it wasn't for the invisible lines drawn by government.

From where they came, their jobs may not be so crappy to them. You certainly have the current popular sentiment. I happen to admire a person who leaves his home country, and possibly his family, for a better future. I'm grateful to my country where I don't have to do that.
