Midwits fear being proven wrong because their need to demonstrate their intellectual superiority is incessant, and one backed by very little evidence. Smart people have no issue with it because every smart person is often wrong and learns from it.

Being proven wrong and good advice have commonality in that both usually sting a little bit. You know you're hearing the truth. If your response is visceral you know you're not growing.
