I find the circular framework ala Hayek and others useful for explaining communism's inherent kinship with fascism--namely that people won't comply with communism without a boot on their necks.

I use Freedom of Individual Speech as the litmus. Communism, Fascism, Islamofascism, and American Democrat goals are identical; State-sanctioned speech only. (UK Labour, too.)

The division of Left vs. Right is probably a smell text. For example, Sometimes “not-right” just seems like people who won’t play ball with western banking/militarism: e.g., Iran, Russia, Libya, Syria, North Korea. Leftists see the nationalisms of other people as fine & good.

Americans look at FDR as the pinnacle of American Leftism, but how many of their ideas did they get from Italian Fascism? Plenty. How much was Italian Fascism a mere heresy of Marxism? Plenty. Ideas bleed into each other. They enjoy the technology of statism.
