That is exactly how I knew back in early March that the public was going to overreact to this virus. Multiple acquaintances/friends at the major research hospital where I live chirped the same “flatten the curve”, “exponential growth”, “2M dead” before it was on Twitter.

I don't think I've heard "flatten the curve" said non-condescendingly even once. Hearing those same few phrases from a million amateur virologists that 3 months ago couldn't tell you if the seasonal flu was a virus or a bacteria makes it so clear they're just executing virus.exe.
