It is one of the great joys to have friends who are younger who simply don't have the life data to make certain decisions. All you have to do is give them information and they're off to the races. The cost/benefit could not be higher.

Most characters in the Fountainhead find Roark off-putting, including Peter, who's the same age. Cameron, Wynand, and Toohey are all at least 20 years older, and they get him just fine.

i remember being in my early twenties and thinking like Roark I'd be unemployable because my precocity would put people off. I wish I could thank the older dude who amiably laughed in my face and (re)assured me it's not that way at all.
