If you are someone who has lost both, which loss is harder to deal with? c) Cats D) Dogs 3) totally depends on the individual cat and the individual dog 4) Depends on how you lost them more than #3

For me the dogs felt like the family's pets and less my own. The only pet I'd call my own was a cat I inherited after my grandmother died, and some of what I felt when she died could have been old wounds from losing my grandma.

It’s clearly 3. It’s whatever your connection to that animal was. My sister died and I’m still not over it. My husband’s aunt died and I wasn’t personally affected.

I wholly agree. Objectively, it's obviously 3. Subjectively - it's whatever one's dead pet was.

My last cat was unusual in that it was more attentive and interactive than any dogs that I had before I got her. She was truly a buddy. Up until my recent dog, she was my favorite pet and is still my most fondly remembered pet.

My cat on the rainbow bridge is probably working in hospitality cause she loved people so much. Right before she died I had to have plumbing work done and I got home before they finished to find her peering into the dishwasher with a bunch of big burly worker guys. Purring happly

I'm going with 3 simply because I would consider first pets, which very hard to lose no matter the type, especially if you're older and have an actual comprehension of death.

It was more difficult for me to get over the death of my first cat, because she had been with me through almost every major life event from 5-25. The dogs hadn’t seen me through as much.
