they've always been this uninterested, we've simply gotten better at seeing things (and they worse at hiding them) Social media is enormously useful at exposing this. All it takes is 1 person of billions to point out their malfeasance and depravity replying to this with receiptshttps://twitter.com/dbongino/status/1247249199806263296 …

I can’t recall a time in my life where “journalists” were as uninterested in getting to the truth. It’s all “narratives,” all the time now. Please, for the sake of your own sanity, do your OWN HOMEWORK. You’re being lied to on a regular basis by “journalists.”

One of the refrains of conservatism is that an institution that is currently bad used to be much better--a perspective I invariably disagree with. Master thread of the NY Times reporting on the rise of the USSR, which garnered a Pulitzer for their man Walter Duranty

this also speaks to their palpable panic at not being able to manage the conversation on social media. when they complain that "we can't all agree on facts anymore" they mean "we are no longer in a position to decree the truth anymore"

Agree. In 1961, there were no alternate channels to communicate. JFK sent 20,000 soldiers to Vietnam in the absence of any serious examination of the facts. We've gotten more sophisticated, and technology has let us compare and contrast, to ferret out #fakenews.

I lived through the Quiet Revolution in Quebec where the culture being controlled by the Catholic Church to no control at all happened over a 20 year period. They didn't react well either; much of the jurisprudence on freedom of religion in Canada is from the years preceding.

I think the media is interested in pushing the orange man bad agenda. They are just not interested in reporting actual news. They are vindictive and, misleading.
