The constitution has no power to restrain government. The constitution embodies the ideal the people do. To remove the constitution would be to silence the very idea of freedom. "Shall not be infringed", and all 3 branches of government have a duty (2/3 fail) to uphold it

I don’t disagree, the problem is the majority of citizens don’t believe in it and half the country is calling for the complete suspension of our rights and literal tanks to role through streets. People are begging politicians to step on their necks.

The fear of the citizenry is what gave the constitution power . The realization that if they go to far their lives are in danger . Now people are begging politicians to shred it so there’s nothing to stop them

These same people praise China and Taiwan for the way they handled the virus but refuse to relinquish any liberty for the sake of safety. As N.Y. and Calif increase cases and deaths with little regard for staying at home, blame turns to the people, not the President.

It is times like these that makes one realize that the constitution is, at best, a facade.

The constitution is a security blanket. It offers no actual help, but people cling to it and cover themselves with it when they get scared.
