which is more likely: that a Nobel winner doesn't understand those things or a Nobel winner understands them perfectly but is speaking otherwise for his audience ?https://twitter.com/ChrisLoesch/status/1244345950241533954 …

Paul doesn’t understand that we have the highest confirmed cases because we have the most testing, the most accurate testing and the highest rate of testing. Paul doesn’t understand a lot but this is grossly incompetent “reporting”. https://twitter.com/paulkrugman/status/1244224063700176897 …

i am always blown away by binary thinkers (and i do not mean Chris in this instance) whose minds cannot handle the "contradictory" ideas of "krugman is bad" and "krugman is smart"

It's probably hard for someone accept that someone that represents so many institutional pillars (MIT/Princeton/NYT/Nobel) can be a malignant force. It's like telling a citizen of Whoville that Santa and his helpers are bad.

Krugman is smart enough to know what side of the bread the butter is on. Nobel prizes no longer mean what they once did. They are participation trophies as are so many of the awards the elite give each other. It's really disgusting.

Nobel Prizes are subject-specific; it's possible, even common, for laureates to be narrowly smart, but not generally smart. Krugman, in particular, seems to be the poster boy for the particular brand of intellectualism best described as "smelling one's own farts."

At one point I don’t doubt @paulkrugman was incredibly smart and that probably what contributed to how he became so dumb
