having a cheetah "playfully" slap at my face was one of the scariest moments of my admittedly largely-safe lifehttps://twitter.com/ExoticCatLady/status/1244093323066757121 …

When Jabari was a teenager he was on top of a six foot cage, I walked by and he slapped me upside my head, no claws included but I saw stars, like being hit by a grown man. So much power in those legs.

Here's one of Jabari in his hunting hat. He was so happy he went and sat in his litter box
, he also had reindeer ears for Christmas. He put up with pretty much anything I did to him. He died at 14 and I miss him like crazy still today.pic.twitter.com/2QrHXfhSxS

He died of complications from diabetes, it damaged his heart, up until a month before his death he was his normal active self, then he lost weight fast and drank huge amounts of water so off to the vet we went. Until then he had never had a sick day in his life.

When he was about four he chewed up and swallowed parts of a doll brush he found in his yard. I got home from a business trip and he was laying inside an open cage and didn't get up to greet me. I asked my roommate how long he had been there, she said she didn't know 2/

because he never got up to greet her anyway. I went back out and looked at him, all of a sudden the thought crossed my mind, I called the vet and told him Jabari had a blockage. He said bring him right in. On examination, he said I don't think so no swelling, no apparent 3/

apparent bloating. I insisted so he took some x-rays and there it was, so the vet, his wife and I operated, I was in charge of squirting the saline where he said to, it 11PM. When he found it he said look and the flesh was all white around it, he said it would have perforated 4/

before morning. So he cut that section of gut out & put everything back in his belly. I said you just pile it in like that he said it will sort itself out. So Jabari slept with me that night and went on to a full recovery. Vet wanted to know how I knew, I had no clue, just knew.
