Maybe a French speaker could weigh in on whether fraternité has a more emotional connotation than it's English cognate.

I was born and raised in Poland (culturally slightly different from Western countries, relatively speaking. Language, however, is VERY different from English, German etc.). Can confirm, it's the same over there and I'd be surprised if it was different in other Slavic countries.
