It is very odd that males can have very strong, intense friendships but the language for it is not there It all sounds awkward at best (even disregarding any sort of gay subtext) The camaraderie between military members is extreme but the words are not there. No clue as to why

Brotherhood is one of the best terms I know for this. The men I call my brothers are not the ones my parents bore.

i hear you, but that defines the relationship but does not express the actual emotion, it's only implied

Fraternity, solidarity, camaraderie, somewhere between Philios and Agape. But, I don’t mind saying “love”

A grunt between manly men, the savage beast that they are, is still a well spoken language PAL!

From my observation, it's expressed through actions, generosity, and occasionally expressing gratitude for the friendship.

Words that maybe express the underlying emotion: loyalty, mutual respect. Depends on relationship, but I have a Bukharian friend that always says "love you, bro" at the end of convos, and it's very awkward.

It’s love, I think this is part of the reason why so many vets commit suicide. You lose intense connections and love that can’t be replicated.

I think because the bond is created through experience more so than verbal communication. Take hell week for military. The bond doesn’t have to be abstractly construed but is felt in the body, in moods and emotion.

It is shown through action. The countless hours away from family training to kill the bad guys and save your brothers. Knowing that if u give the ultimate sacrifice your brothers will help takes care of your family. We don't need the words, the Brotherhood says it all
