like speaking with a billionaire, any conversation may relate to potential of future money. that's why even lefties hesitate to talk trash about *specific* billionaires. whether something qualifies as a threat or not may in fact be a function of my need for the assistance.

maybe a nitpick but Ukraine in 2016 is a Hillary shill, as she's anti-Putin hawk. Ukraine in 2019 is a Trump shill, just out of necessity to avoid executive blocks similar to how Cruz/Graham/etc talked shit about Trump, but now need to suck up. now hostages to Trump politics

the president of Ukraine is a newly elected comedian, i dont think its unreasonable to think he genuinely is pro-trump that loudmouth boorishness plays very well in the motherland plus ex-USSR is very very big on greasing each other's wheels, it's an entire subculture

but can you actually believe Trump is really a firm believer in the Ukrainian project in the wider sense? seems to me that he would pull support as he would in Syria. does his love for a Ukrainian Donbass and Crimea outweigh his love for a Trump Tower Moscow?

then Ukraine guy & Trump are on call out of happenstance instead of a firm basis in ideology. Trump ran on a Putin-indifferent anti-hawk platform, and to his credit Trump is consistent. but this absolutely sucks for Ukraine. Surely they'd want almost any other GOP guy, right?

i cant speak to that at all all im saying is that the tone of the call was very familiar to me, coming from Ukraine, and did not seem threatening in any way and i do not believe would be taken as such

imagine Pierre Delecto ran against Trump in primary. What Would Kyiv Do? imho Kyiv wants to work with GOP in congress, and is smart enough to understand difficult relationship. Trump retroactively claims to support Ukraine, when it serves him wrt Mueller. but not his wishes/money

fair enough. some bit is judgment call based on how much you trust one character or another, and imho trust comes from a lot of supplementary information that rarely presents itself as a smoking gun. e.g. Scott Adams will always trust Trump unless there's a tape of v crazy shit
