From what I understand, ethnic minorities do just fine as long as they don’t believe in any religious or political beliefs the CPC doesn’t approve of. There are rather a number of affirmative action policies for non-Han ethnic groups. Repression is mainly political, not racial.

Racism is Japan is rampant and basically from my time in Japan and China each culture feels their in this best and the other is inferior. Lived in Singapore for a summer and felt safe and never any ill towards me. I felt like an outsider in Tokyo.
