Low blood glucose gives the Jitters because it causes endogenous production of adrenaline in order to get your liver to break down glycogen into glucose. This is happens to occur at a greater rate when you put energy drinks while fasting. Are you decreasing caloric intake?

Remember glycogen repletion takes a few days. Plus, you might be already fat adapted, it will take time to pick up glucose adaptation. Metabolic switching is well-established scientifically. I could go on, but I think we have the diagnosis.

Maybe you're leaner than you've been. The last time I did a very low calorie diet I had unusual mental clarity and required much less caffeine. Might be useful exercise to try to estimate the total caffeine intake including the energy drink.

I presume you've already established a temporal relationship between your symptoms and the energy drink. Energy drink side effects run the gamut. Not much that hasn't been attributed to them. Although like everything in life, it is the dose that matters. https://www.caffeineinformer.com/energy-drink-side-effects …

Yeah, do that. Just keep a log of symptoms and your pulse when you ingest the drink. I've personally seen a couple of cases of palpitations, tachycardia and ventricular arrhythmia in people who used a lot of energy drinks. This stuff can be scary.https://www.marketwatch.com/story/energy-drinks-may-be-linked-to-frightening-side-effects-for-your-heart-2019-05-29 …

May not be, don't mean to scare you. But also realize that as we age, our capacity to tolerate stimulants and depressants goes down considerably. The same dose at different age ranges can produce different effects and consequently different side effects.
