This example is interesting in the reverse as well. People who perceive the term emotionally will often have an aversion to something they themselves consider to be "overrated" because they have perceptions about the word. (assuming things are bad because they are "overrated")

I use it to acknowledge when something is hyped up to be greater than it really is. Making a legend of a person, for instance. Not necessarily bad.
