@LevineJonathan the slaves who built the Egyptian pyramids were given onions for sustenance. They peeled and ate them like apples. Or so The Frugal Gourmet said on his show when I was seven. -
Turns out though that the people who built the pyramids weren't slaves. They were paid and given holidays and time off to look after sick relatives. Mostly they were farmers who worked on the pyramids between growing seasons.
