In sociology, this is called a social role. A person will change their actions, speech, and sometimes even thoughts in order to fit into a social situation better. Normal people may have multiple social roles (e.g. work, home, etc.) but the changes are usually minor.

When the difference between a person's social roles is substantial enough, that might indicate mental disorder (e.g. a defense mechanism as a result of past trauma), but it could be caused by other things.
