Depends on what we're taxing. Realistically, some level of taxation is necessary but it needs to be flat and equally applied with no exceptions or exemptions for ANYTHING

How are you defining taxes? Honest question, how, when there is a cost to the commons, can it be balanced back out without some concept of a tax?
