Isn't it more of a result of DC vs Heller?

Stand your ground laws protecting citizens using deadly force OUTSIDE the home with no duty to retreat is a better example. First such law was passed in 2005. Only took 14 years for half of all states to adopt this stance by 2019. Castle doctrine derives from English Common Law.

Michael...I can guarantee, that I would never, ever have looked up Castle doctrine or Overton Window, if I hadn't read it here. Turns out, I knew what they were, but not their names. To know THAT...I had to commit learning. Now back to real interwebs stuff...kitties...YAY...!

I would say the shift toward constitutional carry and "shall issue" permits is an even better example than castle doctrine

Too bad that's one window on the side of a sky scraper.

If you build the wall around your castle high enough, Overton won't be able to see anything out his window. So you are safe.

In 1999 there was an assault weapons ban and concealed carry was still illegal in many places. In 2019 ARs and standard magazines flow like water and CC is legal in Chicago and DC.
