My brother-in-law is traveling around Vietnam now, he says the energy there is really high and really positive. Crossing my fingers for them seems woefully inadequate, but here's to hoping this is the beginning of freeing the North Korean people.

It seems like we only care about the perceived threat against ourselves. Anything else is moot. It is difficult to empathize with a group of people unless their struggle highlights a political agenda. In those cases, the empathy is disingenuous.
