Hopefully that’s the case, but it seems unlikely at this point. Lampert was an investor who paid off Kmart’s debt when they went bankrupt, but didn’t turn it around. They merged w/the already troubled Sears, tried a few things, but ran it into the ground.

Sears hasn’t been profitable since 2010, and it’s easy to blame Amazon on their loss, but other big box retailers have managed to thrive. It was a series of bad decisions and failing to actually make their product more marketable. https://www.investopedia.com/news/downfall-of-sears/ …
