The problem with "progressivism" is that it preaches progress for its own sake. Progress to where? How do you know you even want to be there? Where are you now? There are 360 degrees on a compass but only 1 will get you to your goal & any deviation worsens with each step. /1

Are you maintaining your bearing and heading? All those questions and rules require looking at your current and past circumstances rather than staring moon eyed into the future. THAT, I believe, is the essence of conservatism.
