I'm all for slamming NBC, but the "rape button" is nonsense.

"Women" being one unnamed staffer with a pretty dubious story? The button is a standard security feature for high-profile employees, and the door opened from the inside.

It’s certainly a rape button if someone decides to lock a woman in his office with it.

So pointing out that this button locks the door only from the outside and doesn't keep anyone from leaving is "supporting sexual predators"? Okay then.

A security button that keeps people out of an office in case someone trapped inside that office needed help and couldn't leave is a hell of hill to also die on.

1. No one has alleged that this happened. 2. Are you seriously suggesting that if someone inside Lauer's office called for help and the door was found locked, this would not be a really, really bad situation for Lauer?
