The Boomer claim that right-wing is synonymous with individualism completely ignores the actual origin of the term, where the French politicians who literally sat on the right wing represented the aristocrats.

I think they are referring to America right wing, opposed to the European right, which is not concerned with maximizing liberty to a certain point. Being R.W. doesn't equate to conservative or liberal, which is why right/left should only be viewed by size of gov't.

doesn't matter if it's spelled the same or that they originate in the same place, I think it's safe to assume, that anyone who follows politics would note a difference between American right wingers and European right wingers. Someone like Ted Cruz vs. Le Pen.
