He's right, but the expression, commonly misspelt as "you're welcome" is actually short for "here's your welcome".

Not in America. “You’re welcome” is shortened from, “You are welcome.” “Your” is a possessive pronoun. Unless one is talking about the “welcome” that one owns/possesses, the phrase, “your welcome” would never be used.
