They are stripping your pdf of meta-data. I once got an anonymous review, but I accidentally figured out who it was because the creator's name was logged in the meta-data. Maybe this is not absolutely necessary for a bioRxiv paper, but it is the safe option

I know why they do it. Describing this process as "conversion to PDF" is still silly. (But thanks for replying, I'm sure many others do not.) cc
