It's both sad and powerful to read 's last interview, a key quote echoes something said recently "It’s only by exploring anomalies that we can develop a deeper understanding of causation."

Before you begin, think as if you are a lazy person. Assume the competition will work harder. Your only chance is a better strategy. After you begin, work as if you are a dumb person. Assume the competition is smarter and more talented. Your only chance is to outwork them.

It's WRONG, because... Wealthy people are not the same. Two key distinctions... 1. Self-made vs. inherited 2. Value-creating vs. Value-extracting Elon Musk came to the US broke. Worked ridiculously hard. Products are changing world. Sackler family profited from opioids.

It's RIGHT, because there are good points... 1. There are tax loopholes available to the wealthy. 2. Many wealthy people influence politics. 3. Globalization, digitization, & automation lead to more inequality. 4. To be extremely successful, luck was is a factor.

It's SCARY, because it's a slippery slope. Should we condemn millionaires too? Great athletes? Anybody who spends 10,000+ hours to be the best in their field and makes a lot more than others?

This trend is awkward, scary, right, and wrong... It's AWKWARD for me, because... As an entrepreneur, I've spent a lot of my life studying, being inspired by, and using the products of great entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, & Steve Jobs.

Over the last year, there has been a trend to make the case that... 1. We should "abolish billionaires" (via NY Times) 2. Billionaires only become billionaires by taking, not making 3. Billionaires are lazy (via ) This video below is one example..

Thought experiment! Many ultra-successful people found ONE big idea and doubled-down on it. • Warren Buffett: Value investing • Peter Thiel: Mimetic theory • George Soros: Reflexivity, shaped by Karl Popper Less may be more. We should take our best ideas more seriously.
