It turns out you can find a playback speed that transitions between "yanny" and "laurel". Mine is about ~1.75x.

By moving the slider gradually I can train myself to hear Laurel or Yanny anywhere between about .6 and 1.4 speed. I'm also, I think, starting to figure out how to consciously choose (that's much more a work in progress).
