It was only two months ago that I spent a week using vi, but I ran through my flash cards again and had already forgotten a lot of it. I try to tell myself that my poor detail memory is my brain applying strong regularization to prevent overfitting...
Do you use flashcards to practice declarative or procedural memory? The two use separate memory systems. I find that mentally imagining the action can help with remembering keystrokes. I experimented with actually miming the action, but didn't like it (I should try again).
