@gwern Curious: why you prefer Mnemosyne to Anki or SuperMemo?
Yeah, that matches my impression of SuperMemo. Seems like a business run by someone who is doing their best impression of a businessperson. I didn't realize that about Anki - very interesting. My limited experience with Mnemosyne made it seem quite similar to Anki.

I think they are very similar aside from better foreign support (IIRC, you can even draw characters on a tablet for grading) and the mobile clients: Anki is paid but polished, Mnemosyne's free but still buggy. If I started now, dunno which I'd pick.
