I wonder what filmmakers and artists would say? The ones I know often profess "scientist". Admittedly, there is a large selection bias - they often know me because they like science. For me, filmmaker is definitely high on the list!

You should check out Alex Garland of Ex Machina, he speaks to the science infatuation well! Though it's doubtful my undergrad qualifies me as a scientist (I was always jealous of engineers for this) I agree with you re: filmmaking.
