Doesn't make it a good strategy at the individual level. Investing in something (i.e., a bit player role) requires a small time commitment. Making something new happen in the world usually takes a much larger time commitment.

I feel like SV limits the downside of making something new happen though. I hear my startup friends say all the time "well if it fails Ill just get a normal job somewhere"

Sure. I'm just saying that I occasionally meet people who are trying to work on 5 projects they lead all at once, and most of them are failing miserably at it. In most cases, I'm not sure they could lead one.
